Decorative Arts

This section looks after the collection of courtly, bourgeois, and sacred arts and crafts which are characterised by a remarkable variety of materials. The conservators develop methods to conserve and restore the various objects made of ivory, glass, enamel, porcelain, amber, mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell and the many complex combinations of these materials. The results of artistic investigations and findings on the object’s history are also taken into account.
