Description
The two-door cabinet is painted with depictions of the four seasons. In the lower half of the left door, a Latin inscription informs us that it was made in Elbach and painted in Glonn. Johann Baptist Böheim was a son of Jakob Böheim, who was a "painter from the mountain near the village Ursprung" not far from Glonn. Since Johann only took over a workshop in Aibling in 1785 through marriage, it is very likely that he painted this cabinet in his father's workshop. The simple execution of his motifs was well received by the peasant clientele in Upper Bavaria because they easily recognised the content of the picture.
