With its true-to-scale models of the five Bavarian capitals – Munich, Landshut, Straubing, Ingolstadt and Burghausen – the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum owns a unique treasure of world renown. Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria had these models made for his Kunstkammer between 1568 and 1574. An equally detailed model of Munich from the 19th century demonstrates the expansion of the Royal capital and residence city.
Models for an altar and a pulpit as well as the model of the abbey church in Münsterschwarzach from the workshop of the famous architect Balthasar Neuman completes this collection circuit.
