Religion has provided and continues provide support and direction for the faithful. Bavaria has essentially been shaped by Christianity, and Catholicism in particular. Central themes in this collection are religious celebrations throughout the year next to the individual notions of piety.
With the Rudolf Kriss Collection on the interdenominational and intercultural history of religion, the Museum possesses one of the world's most significant collections on the Christian faith and its practice in everyday life with numerous votives, devotional objects and amulets.
