The art of turning

From the turning prince to Ernst Gamperl.

In the special exhibition ‘Ernst Gamperl. The Tree of Life Project’, the turned vessels and objects by contemporary artist Ernst Gamperl are juxtaposed with historical turned masterpieces from the collection of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum. The guided tour presents the virtuoso Baroque creations made of ivory and wood and provides insight into the history of courtly ivory turning.
